Today’s small shop feature is a good one, one I’ve had in the works for awhile now and am so excited to finally share with you! Cuteheads is a clothing line that creates adorable, comfortable clothing for babies and children.
Esther Freedman is the founder and designer of the Cuteheads brand, as well as a work-at-home mama to her 9-month-old daughter Naomi and husband Doug. Esther had the idea to start a children’s clothing company in early 2011 when she realized that “cutehead,” a nickname she had for her cockapoo Winnie, would be a good name for a kidswear collection. By the end of the year she’d left her job to focus on Cuteheads and officially opened up in August of 2012. She just celebrated her two year shopiversary last month!
Esther comes from a family of entrepreneurs (her dad actually founded and is CEO of blinds.com) so entrepreneurship was always encouraged in her family. She always knew at some point she’d own her own business, but waited until she found something that inspired and excited her and creating a kidswear line did just that! When she had the idea to start Cuteheads, she talked to parents about colors and designs to ensure her products were something both parents and their kids would be excited about (this was all before she had her darling daughter). She also created three darling characters that are the face of Cuteheads (and are seen on many of the clothing pieces) — Lou the Lamb, Barkley the Dog, and Kingston the Lion. All Cuteheads products are designed and made right here in the USA!
