bōken every day diaper bag (review + coupon code)

June 5, 2015 | In: baby, baby gear

One of the most important products for parents is their diaper bag. You take it everywhere and depend on it daily when you’re away from home, so choosing the right one can make your life significantly easier. Back when I was pregnant with Mae, I knew exactly what diaper bag I wanted. I’d actually wanted it since before I was pregnant (when I first saw it I had no idea it was a diaper bag) and honestly never actually thought much about the functionality of the bag. Ha. Ha ha.

Boken Every Day Diaper Bag

A lot has changed over the past few years and I feel like my diaper bag is more important than ever. With a toddler and another baby on the way, convenience & practicality have become my top priorities. (And of course, it’s gotta be stylish too.) I now know I need a diaper bag that’s comfortable, convenient when baby-wearing (hello, backpack-style), one that holds a lot of stuff, and one that (bonus!) both my husband and I can use. I was pretty thrilled to discover the Boken, a company that I thought might just meet our needs.

Since I get quite a few requests for gender-neutral bags, that was the first thing that attracted me to this bag. They are totally gender-neutral – a bag that both moms and dads can use. But after testing out the Boken Every Day Diaper Bag for a few weeks, I realized there are so many other features that I love even more.

First off, the diaper bag holds a ton – it doesn’t even compare to other bags I own. I can actually fit Mae’s lunch pack, a change of clothes, & some toys in the bag and still have plenty of room for all of our other necessities. The Boken Every Day Diaper Bag can also be worn three ways – messenger, back pack, and tote. My other diaper bags can be worn messenger + tote, but over the past year I’ve realized how much I actually needed backpack style. Game changer, you guys! Especially if you plan on wearing your baby. Or, you know, your toddler figures out that whole running thing and you find yourself chasing after them all day. I also love that it’s easy to adjust the straps while I’m wearing it, since my husband and I frequently switch off who’s tracking the toddler and who’s carrying the goods.

Here are all the features I love:

  • Super lightweight (only 13oz!)
  • Waterproof & easy to wipe clean
  • Breathable, comfortable backpack straps
  • Folds into small zip couch for storage or traveling
  • Can be worn three ways – messenger, tote, backpack (can’t stress how important that last one has become for me)
  • Extra large diaper pad (22″ x 24″) – that thing is legit
  • Outer mesh water bottle pocket, outer flap baby bottle pocket (it keeps it enclosed & clean), & two easy access zippered pockets
  • Gender neutral
  • Easy-to-adjust straps
  • Perfect size (13.5″ x 16″ x 6.5″)

There’s only a couple potential downsides to the bag that I noticed. The messenger strap is pretty thin, and while it makes it easy to store in the bag, I could also see it getting uncomfortable if the bag was full and you were wearing it for an extended period of time. Also, if you’re big into multiple pockets, there’s only two on the inside (a zippered pouch and mesh divider for diaper supplies) – this actually doesn’t bother me much as I’m not quite organized enough to use multiple pockets (the ones on the outside work just fine for me) but wanted to point this out in case it’s important to you!

Boken Every Day Diaper Bag

I think this bag is very reasonably priced ($68) for the quality and functionality. It’s nearly impossible to find good diaper bags under $100 and this one is truly great quality, especially at that price point.

And good news, you guys! In honor of Father’s Day coming up, Boken is offering 15% off all purchases on their website and free domestic shipping with code BOKENDAD15! This bag would make the perfect Father’s Day gift. But I’ll warn you, you’ll soon be jealous & stealing your hubs’ super-functional diaper bag! Also, head on over to Instagram where we’re giving one away!

I read your post regarding this bag, checked out their website, and ended up using your coupon code to buy one. I have been using it for a while now, and I love it! such a great find!! Thanks so much for introducing me to this. I had been using the Petunia Picklebottom boxy backpack, and it was working, but I always felt a little bad when my husband would have to carry it around. I am a huge fan of the Boken, and am now a convert!!
    Thanks again!

Oh yay!! I’m so happy you’ve loved it. I’ve used mine nearly daily since receiving it and just love how lightweight and comfortable it is. I still can’t believe I’d never used a backpack style diaper bag. So much easier with a toddler!
