We’re getting ready to embark on a road trip with the girls in the next month to visit family (wish us luck!) plus we have a couple shorter trips planned later this summer. That got me thinking about some of the best travel products for kids that I’ve come across in the past couple of years, and products that would have made our past travels go little smoother.
Like the travel drying rack and brush that I discovered after cleaning baby bottles in a little hotel room and thinking there must be a product to make this a little easier. Or the portable blackout curtain I found online after visiting my dad’s house and not being able to get the bedrooms at his house dark enough for Mae to nap. (That one was painful.)
So whether you’re driving to grandma’s house for the weekend or flying across the country, these are my top products to make traveling with babies and toddlers a little more bearable. Because as much fun as it can be, it can also be a major headache.
1 | The Gro-Anywhere Blind ($31.24)
It’s a portable blackout curtain! Pretty smart, huh? It adapts to fit multiple window sizes with suction cups, and comes with a travel bag. I would’ve loved this on one of our recent trips to Utah. The bedrooms at my dad’s house are so bright, and Mae had such a hard time napping and would wake up way too early. This would’ve made our trip lots easier!
2 | GB Pockit Stroller ($249.95)
The world’s smallest folding stroller. It weighs just 9.5 pounds and will fold down so small it will fit underneath the seat in front of you when flying or in a large handbag. Also has a padded seat and sun shade.
3 | The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray ($5.95)
I’m hardly a germaphobe, but I think we can all agree we get in some pretty icky situations while traveling, either by car or plane. Plus no one likes having a sick little one on a trip. So having a compact, hand sanitizing spray on hand is always a good idea. These ones from The Honest Company are my favorite.
4 | KidCo Peapod Travel Bed ($69.95)
The KidCo Peapod is a travel bed that folds up small enough to fit inside carry-on size luggage. It’s made from a lightweight mesh to provide air flow and has a large zipper panel for easy access to your baby. Includes a Micro-Lite sleeping pad that’s secured with snaps and is easily removable for cleaning. Also has features for outdoor use including UV protection and anchor straps.
5 | LilGadgets Connect+ Headphones for Children ($29.95)
These headphones are designed just for kids ages 2-8 and have a max volume so your little one won’t hurt their ears. They’re compact, foldable, and come with a travel pouch.
6 | OXO Tot On-the-Go Travel Drying Rack with Bottle Brush ($14.99)
An all-in-one bottle and nipple cleaning solution when away from home. Comes with a bottle brush and detail cleaner that fit right inside the drying rack.
7 | Britax Car Seat Travel Cart ($79.00)
If you’re taking your convertible car seat with you on the airplane, this travel cart lets you wheel your little one through the airport. Then it folds up compactly to fit in the overhead compartment.
8 | Skip Hop Zoo Travel Neckrest ($13.00)
Travel pillows featuring our favorite Zoo characters from Skip Hop! Made from plush velour and designed for kids ages 2 – 4.
9 | Tommee Tippee Travel Bottle and Food Warmer ($19.99)

13 | Tiny Love Take Along Bouncer ($39.99)
An on-the-go bouncer! It’s super easy to fold, takes up minimal storage, and comes with a carrying bag.
14 | Trunki Ride-On Suitcase for Kids ($50)
The Trunki is a ride-on, tow-along, carry-on suitcase for kids. Kids can pack it with all their favorite belongings and away they go!
15 | CARES Airplane Safety Restraint System ($74.99)
This is the only FAA-approved safety restraint system for kids. It’s compact, easy to install, and designed to fit almost every airplane seat size. Designed for children 1 year and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds.

This inflatable toddler travel bed features “rails” that will keep kids from rolling off and is designed to fit standard size crib sheets and blankets that can be tucked into the inner mattress, keeping your child covered at night. Includes electric pump for easily inflating.
17 | LeSportsac Baby Travel Carry On ($148)
Super lightweight and easy-to-carry baby bag perfect for traveling. Comes with matching changing pad.
18 | Lotus Travel Crib and Portable Playard ($249.99)
This is the most raved about travel crib on the market. It’s lightweight, portable, can be carried backpack style, and sets up in 15 seconds. Plus it has a side door to give them a way in and out during playtime but can be zipped up when they need a secure place.
19 | 3 Sprouts Backseat Organizer ($19.99)

21 | North States Supergate Portable Travel Gate ($39.99)
If you need a travel gate for a weekend away, this is a great option because it folds up into a small travel bag.
22 | Solly Baby Wrap ($65)
If you have a baby, some sort of carrier would be at the top of my list! My favorite wrap for babies is the Solly Baby because it’s super lightweight and can be easily folded up and stashed in your diaper bag. It’s perfect for traveling.
23 | Marpac Hushh Portable White Noise Sound Machine for Baby ($34.95)
We use the original Marpac white noise machine in the girls’ room and I’m a big fan! So I’m pretty thrilled they recently released a travel version. It comes with 3 sounds (bright white noise, deep white noise, gentle surf) and has a multiple volume settings. Comes with a USB charger and baby-safe clip to attach to stroller, car seat, or crib.
24 | SippyPal Sippy Cup Strap ($5.49)and Secure-a-Toy ($3.99)
There’s nothing worse than trying to retrieve a dropped sippy cup or toy on an airplane. Use these straps to secure your little one’s possessions.
25 | Baby’s Journey Babysitter High Chair Pad ($29.99)
The babysitter easily converts any chair into a high chair! It accommodates wide and tall chairs and will fit children 6 months to 2 years. When you’re done, it can easily roll up and fit in your diaper bag, plus the fabric is machine washable.

great list.. i love the little first aid kids..
we have a trip in the works and just got some headphones for the boys.
I will be traveling for the first time with my newborn and toddler in just a few weeks. These are great suggestions – especially that pocket stroller! I need one! I’m also thinking I’m going to have to trade in my Ergo for some sort of wrap that I can easily throw in my diaper bag. No one can really prepare you for how much STUFF kids require!
